2023 0057 luke embden: have a nice day!

june 17 — august 27 2023
viewable 24/7

opening on saturday, june 17, 18 h

Taking its title and inspiration from the iconic Smiley plastic shopping bags that have become an indelible part of our cultural tapestry, Embden’s performative installation promises to engage with every facet of the space. The gallery walls will burst to life with a profusion of colourful and graphically-charged pieces.
Hailing from a rural background, Embden channels his passion for street art, seamlessly fusing it with an uninhibited use of bold graphic lines. Each of his pieces reveals a multi-layered tapestry, where iconic images intertwine. Influenced by Pop Art, Embden’s work exudes an infectious vitality through dynamic and vibrant free-form lettering and spirited animal prints.
Throughout the duration of the exhibition, Embden will continue to work on the installation, feeding off the energy of the environment and people he encounters.
In celebration of Pride Month and Christopher Street Day, a festive event will be organized to coincide with the exhibition honouring the spirit of inclusivity and diversity that lies at the core of this project. Stay tuned for further announcements!
